Paris Design Week — A Journey of Inspiration
This September, I’m thrilled to be returning to Paris during Paris Design Week — a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, interiors, art, and the unmistakable Parisian approach to design.
For me, this visit is about more than discovering beautiful spaces. It’s an opportunity to immerse myself in the details that have long inspired my aesthetic — timeless architecture, layered interiors, artisanal craftsmanship, and the effortless way Paris blends history with contemporary living.
Throughout the week, I’ll be exploring exhibitions, showrooms, galleries, and inspiring spaces across the city, documenting the colors, textures, materials, and ideas that capture my attention.
I look forward to bringing these discoveries home and allowing them to become part of the evolving story of Sarandipity Design Studio.
Creating Luxury in a Small Space
Luxury in interior design isn’t necessarily about filling a home with expensive furniture. To me, it’s about how a space feels—thoughtful, layered, personal, and beautifully put together.
Some of the most elegant interiors combine investment pieces with simple, accessible furnishings. A beautiful statement mirror can live beside an affordable sofa. A treasured object collected while traveling can sit on an everyday coffee table. A designer candle, vintage brass accessory, art book, or beautiful textile can completely change the character of something otherwise quite ordinary.

Choose a Few Pieces That Make an Impact
In a smaller home, every piece becomes more noticeable. Rather than trying to make everything luxurious, I prefer choosing a few elements that give the room its identity.
An ornate mirror, beautiful lighting, rich drapery, an interesting rug, or a sculptural accessory can become the visual anchor of the space. More affordable pieces can then quietly support them. The contrast is what makes the room interesting.
Layer Materials, Textures & Finishes
One of my favorite ways to elevate a room is through layering. Velvet against linen. Brass beside marble. A patterned rug beneath contemporary furniture. Greenery reflected in an antique-inspired mirror. Books mixed with sculptural objects and pieces collected from travels.
Individually, these details may be small. Together, they create depth and give a home that wonderfully collected-over-time feeling.
Collected Pieces Bring Soul to a Space
Some of my favorite elements in my home are not simply decorative objects—they are pieces that remind me of places I love.
During my travels along the Amalfi Coast, I fell in love with the beautiful handmade, hand-painted Italian ceramics. Their vibrant colors, imperfect artistry and old-world craftsmanship bring warmth and personality into my home. I adore incorporating these pieces into everyday spaces rather than saving them for special occasions. They become little reminders of travel, food, culture and the experiences that inspire my approach to design.
I love mixing these collected pieces with accessories from MacKenzie-Childs and Michael Aram. A whimsical patterned object, a sculptural metal piece or an elegant serving accessory can sit comfortably alongside something inexpensive. When the pieces are thoughtfully chosen, the room feels collected rather than decorated.
The Power of a Beautiful Mirror
One of my favorite design elements for a smaller space is a Parisian-style mirror.
An oversized, antique-inspired gilded mirror brings instant character and a sense of European elegance, but it also serves a very practical purpose: it reflects natural light and visually expands the room.
Placed opposite or near a window, a mirror can capture daylight, reflect beautiful details from another part of the room and create the illusion of greater depth. In a small space, that can completely transform how the room feels.
I especially love the juxtaposition of an ornate, Old-World mirror with more contemporary furnishings. That tension between old and new, luxurious and accessible, collected and contemporary is what makes an interior feel interesting and personal.
For me, creating a beautiful home isn’t about buying everything from one designer or at one price point. It’s about knowing where to invest, where to save, and how to bring everything together.

My name is Sara.. My passion for design is rooted in the belief that beautiful spaces should feel personal, timeless, and connected to the way we live.
Before pursuing design, I worked at prominent financial firms in Manhattan. While my career began on Wall Street, my love of creativity, art, travel, and beautiful interiors eventually inspired me to create spaces of my own.
Inspired by Parisian interiors, art, architecture, travel, and culinary experiences, I’m drawn to spaces that balance classic elegance with contemporary ease.
ThroughSarandipity Design Studio, I create thoughtful, layered interiors that feel refined yet welcoming, collected rather than simply decorated, and uniquely reflective of the people who call them home.
For me, design is about transforming everyday life through beauty, comfort, and a little sense of discovery.
